Derby

Following the great response that was given to the first event at Derby, it became apparent that the tournament formula was a winner and would run again. Therefore, Diane was looking to introduce a new element to the event and thought of a sportsmanship award, which was introduced in 1996.

Voting slips are issued to all competitors and they are asked to nominate a person involved in the tournament (but not necessarily a bowler) whom they think personifies 'Sportsmanship'.

From the Leeds 2000 event, the voting rule was changed. It was the Tournament Committee who would decide the winner as it was thought they would have an overall better perspective. However, bowlers are still invited to submit suggestions which is taken into account.
